Bluente has successfully raised a $1.5 million Seed Plus financing round led by Informed Ventures to tackle one of the biggest drains on productivity faced by professionals worldwide: the hours lost to copy-pasting, translation errors and tedious reformatting of documents post-translation.
A leading AI-powered platform trusted by global firms, Bluente delivers a one-click solution that maintains the exact formatting of the documents during translation to and from 120+ languages - converting texts, images, numbers and units with precision. The result: global firms save thousands of hours annually, freeing professionals to focus on work that actually matters.
The global document translation market is valued at over $40 billion and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.2% from 2024 to 2030. With the increasing globalization of business and legal operations, the demand for efficient, scalable, and accurate translation services is at an all-time high. This is further corroborated by a latest research article published by Microsoft that translators are the role most likely to be disrupted by AI, underscoring the urgent need for tools like Bluente.
The Singapore-based startup has gained significant traction among corporates, professionals and individual users, who previously struggled with time-consuming and largely manual document translation and formatting work. Bluente’s solution is available as a subscription solution to its corporate client base that spans 70+ enterprises globally, including reputable global and regional law firms, financial institutions, government agencies and Fortune 500 companies, saving them 75% in costs and 90% in time. The near-perfect retention rate of Blu Translate’s clients is a testament to both the critical need for and deep trust in the product.
Bluente's platform isn't just for enterprises; individual users also benefit from its ease of use. Whether translating work-related documents, personal documents such as birth certificates, national identity documents, education certificates or even novels, the platform’s user-friendly interface and powerful AI technology are available to individuals under the basic plan. Bluente ensures that personal translation tasks, whether business contracts or personal correspondence, are accurate and formatted seamlessly.
"Bluente is setting the standard for how global enterprises translate and manage documents,” said Daphne Tay, founder of Bluente. “We knew we were on to something when we were getting a lot of interest from the legal community, with multiple people asking for immediate access or saying that they could have saved significant time and cost if they had our solution earlier. This interest continued to spread to financial institutions, marketing teams, e-commerce platforms, learning & development teams. That's when we knew - this is the problem we are best-placed to solve."
"Bluente is solving a massive pain point for global users and enterprises - the need for instant, cost efficient, ready-to-use translation without the manual formatting. We’re confident in their ability to capture and grow this under-served market and look forward to supporting their expansion into new sectors and geographies.” said Richard Lim, founder and Managing Director of Informed Ventures.
From Personal Pain Point to Market Solution
The problem Bluente solves isn't theoretical - it emerged from Daphne’s prior experience as a Bain & Company consultant spending countless hours on a project reformatting translated documents across international markets. "I was doing exactly what our clients do now: copying and pasting text from translation tools, fixing formatting, and losing hours that should have been spent on actual consulting work," she recalls.
Similarly, Tan Li-Jie, General Manager at Bluente, also encountered endless challenges when handling multilingual language requirements across the diverse APAC region, as a former construction disputes lawyer and Counsel at WeWork. “Getting documents translated through law firms and traditional translation services is often extremely costly and cumbersome, requiring weeks to turnaround time-sensitive documents and holding up fast-paced matters. My impact would be amplified if only I had the benefit of tools that we’re building”
This frustration is particularly apparent when working with Southeast Asian languages and Arabic for business documents - languages where traditional translation is limited and existing translation tools offered limited support. "I realized there was a massive underserved market for businesses operating across these regions," Daphne explains. This insight now drives Bluente's support for a global language base with particular strength in Asian, Middle Eastern and European variants.
The team’s blend of consulting and legal experience proved invaluable in understanding the true cost of these inefficiencies across professional services. "When you're billing clients hundreds or thousands per hour and spending that time on formatting instead of strategy or legal advice, you quickly realize the scale of this problem," they noted.
Outperforming Traditional Translation Technology
Traditional translation tools have always stumbled on formatting - tables, graphs, images, and other complex file elements often break in the process. Bluente solves this “last mile” challenge through advanced document manipulation, boosting productivity more than tenfold compared to competing solutions.
Unlike existing translation services, Bluente’s platform doesn’t just translate text; it preserves formatting across PDFs, Word files, PowerPoint decks, Excel sheets, and even images. The result: professionals get a finished, ready-to-use document instead of wasting hours on reformatting.
“Most tools give you a translated file that still needs hours of cleanup. Bluente delivers a finished product, ready to use,” said Daphne Tay, founder of Bluente. “Clients tell us they tested half a dozen solutions before finding ours—the only one that actually worked without requiring cleanup.”
Proven Performance and Immediate ROI
The platform's capabilities were tested when clients uploaded a 600-page legal evidence compilation that included website snapshots, chat images, invoices, judgments, and email correspondence for urgent processing. Bluente's system successfully processed the entire document in under 30 minutes while maintaining formatting integrity across all elements.
This level of precision extends to "every comma, bullet, punctuation, table, chart, label" and works across different document types, including scanned and non-scanned PDFs. The comprehensive approach has led clients to save man-days of time and to choose Bluente after testing multiple alternative solutions.
"Our clients aren't just staying, they're expanding their usage across more departments, markets and languages," noted Daphne, "When a Fortune 500 department processes thousands of pages monthly through our platform, they see return on investment immediately through time savings that previously required hours by associates or document processing teams."
Strategic Growth Plans
With strong product-market fit established in the global legal market, Bluente plans to accelerate growth. The $1.5 million funding will fuel geographic expansion as cross-border communication continues to accelerate. "We know the product works—clients keep telling us we're the only solution that actually delivers what we promise," the founder notes. "Now it's about getting in front of more companies who are still wasting valuable time on manual formatting."
The expansion strategy targets three key regions: the Middle East, broader APAC markets, and the United States. "These regions have the highest concentration of international firms and users dealing with cross-border transactions," she explains. "They're also markets where our multilingual capabilities, especially in Arabic and Asian languages, provide the strongest competitive advantage." While Bluente's product is currently available globally, the funding will enable deeper market penetration in these key regions.
Vision for Document Processing
Beyond solving today's translation formatting problems, Bluente sees a larger opportunity in developing advanced document processing infrastructure. "Translation is just the beginning," Daphne explains. "But once you build technology that truly understands document structure, you unlock the ability to transform how global organizations process and collaborate on documents. Our goal is to make working across languages as seamless as working in your own."
This Seed Plus round positions Bluente for accelerated growth while maintaining its focus on precision and reliability that has attracted its current client base. The partnership with Informed Ventures brings both capital and strategic expertise from investors who understand the market challenges Bluente addresses.
